GENERAL - In
conjunction with Pottery Week in Zanesville, Ohio, the
McCoy Pottery Collectors Society sponsors an Annual Convention
of McCoy pottery collectors every July. The Theme for
2009 will be "McCoy Goes Green”.
All attendees are cordially invited to bring
several of their favorite pieces that they would like
to display. Any type of pottery produced by either,
the J.W. McCoy, Brush-McCoy, or Nelson McCoy Pottery
is welcome for inclusion.
There will also
be our regular Show & Tell
display. This is a display of any authentic, but rare
or uncommon piece of J.W. McCoy, Brush-McCoy, or Nelson
McCoy pottery. Uncommon means not only a difficult
piece to find, but it may also be any unusual, or non-production
glaze coloring or decoration. Each attendee is urged
to bring their special piece, or pieces, and add to
this display.
In a third display,
we will feature the McCoy pieces that have some connection
with some historical person, item, or event. Everyone
is requested to add their historical pieces to this
display which is entitled “McCoy
Makes History.”
There will also be a display of the Nelson
McCoy Fruit Wall Pockets. Here will be shown specially
decorated versions in this popular collecting area
of McCoy pottery.
There will be
a fifth display entitled “Did
Ya Know”. A group of pieces that have some special
and/or some generally unknown feature will be on view
for all to enjoy, and add to their collecting knowledge.
The sixth display
will feature “Quita’s
Tips”. This is a display that gives a wide range
of helpful information. Items like, “how to spot
a reproduction or fake” to the reporting of a special
glaze color.
All of these
displays are silent displays, no oral presentation
is required. Society members and all persons interested
in McCoy Pottery are invited to participate.
DATES
- This year Pottery Week will be Sunday July 12th through
Saturday the 18th. The Society Headquarters will be
at the Comfort Inn. The Comfort Inn is located at 500
Monroe Street in Zanesville, Ohio. The telephone number
is 740-454-4144. A map showing the location of the
Comfort Inn is given below. A map will also be included
in your registration packet.
The Comfort Inn
has set aside a block of rooms, at a reduced rate for
Convention attendees. The rate will be provided here
later. Last year the reserved rooms were held until
the last week in June. It is expected that will be
the case again this year, so it is therefore important
to make your reservations early to receive the reduced
rate. Please tell the attendant that you are attending
the McCoy Pottery Collectors’ Society
Convention. It is also recommended that you secure your
reservation with a credit card to insure the availability
of your room in the case of a late arrival.
A sign will be place in the lobby of the Comfort Inn
giving the location and times for convention registration
and receipt of your Information Packet.

McCoy, or other type pottery, they may have that

for this event, please contact Frank Poolas
and let him know at mccoy@nac.net.

is in-room selling. All attendees are invited to
bring any J.W. McCoy, Nelson McCoy or Brush-McCoy
pottery that they wish to sell and offer their pottery
for sale in their motel room. In-room selling of
pottery may occur at anytime during the convention
at times chosen by the individual sellers. In-Room
selling is a major event and many people participate.
Many people participate as both buyers and sellers.
So, if this will be your first convention, don’t
